More on Bylaws

Bylaw suggestions:

Comprehensive manuals in contemporary English to compliment Parlimentary language of our Constitution and Bylaws.

Bylaws will not violate IAEP,NAGE,or the AFL-CIO.

Meetings need to be organized now.

A couple ground rules for this thread:

This is a brainstorming of ideas that will exist in a vacuum. This is an arena to throw every idea into the mix. Complacent statements educating us on affiliate established rules meant to disregard ideas will not be tolerated on this thread. We need momentum.

Any input from somebody that is intended to throw off this brainstorm ( medic DUH ) should be ignored without any response.

Please save your questions for another post. Questions bring up a lot of good talking points but this is a time for ideas instead of query.

Let us begin:

A manual of common procedures needs to be adopted. Purpose, spell out obligations and duties of elected officers, formalize how conduct of members is to be enforced, Oaths of officers and members, procedures for conducting a meeting of committees-labor management relations-reports to members.

A treasury manual. This would be used to guide members on how to insure the conduct of the local treasurer would be accounted for. This guide would educate members on the business end of the union to help instill ownership of the union. An audit guide would be part of this manual to guide other elected officers in their annual audit of the treasurers books. A flow chart of how membership dues and per capita are to be used.

Adopt other manuals as appropriate. Robert's Rules of Order or Atwood's Rules of Order. NAGE Constitution and Bylaws.

It would be cost effective to have all Constitution and Bylaws, procedure and order manuals available electronically on this site. Keep down excessive print costs.

Please add your ideas here. If you do not have any ideas, visit your local CLC and obtain bylaw information from them. Most union bylaws will not violate another unions bylaws, we share common goals and objectives. AFL-CIO keeps adequate oversight on bylaws.

I won't ask any questions.  I'll just say that there should be a rule and consequence manual for people to learn how to be true union members.  A code of conduct for union members.
