Debate

Hello all,

I have been posting on the NEMSA website for a while and I like their message. I felt the the actions of SEIU were deplorable and that they deserved what they got. Now I used to work for AMR in Santa ClaritaAntelope Valley in SOCAL with Local 77 as my union. I was very happy with them and felt that the Nupp brothers did a fine job of representing us. Ever since NEMSA has started attacking IAEP, I have taken a second look at them and I don't like what I see. From experience, I know IAEP is a good union. Though they are not perfect, they do a good job, at least in my old area. With all that said, one thing that cannot be dismissed is NEMSA'a message. People are tired of their dues money being thrown away on poiticians, excessive saleries by union officials, etc. and not being taken care of. IAEP has a lot to offer the SEIU people and can better protect them from AMR. All of the mudslinging has come to a head now and I think it is time for a debate. Torren has said that he is read for one. I think it is sad that he has not come out and demanded one like he did when he ran SEIU from San Mateo. He is hiding and for good reason. I think he is scared of IAEP. He and his people have spread  a great deal of information about IAEP. Whether it is all true or whatever is all over my head. IAEP needs to attack head on. The vote is close at hand. I have a feeling that NEMSA will stall until the vote comes but if IAEP can call him out and demonstrate that NEMSA is afraid, this will be a huge credability blow. I am still in the middle as are most people. I am thinking about returning to my old area and have a lot riding on this outcome. This battle could soon spill into my area and I want to know all of the facts. Let's see a debate.

I agree that the two sides need to do a formal debate. I have offered to video tape the debate and make DVD copies to hand out to both sides. I am very confident that the IAEP will make NEMSA look kind of silly however I also think the employees need to see both sides in an organized fashion. I will also try and make sure the NEMSA folks don’t call the police.

Torren - Now you have seen the request on the IAEP site also. IAEP is ready !!

Well here is some news. I have been booted from the NEMSA website TWICE for posting the Service Agreement on their site. The V.P. himself, yes Tim himself has erased all of my posts reguarding the Service Agreement. I encourage all who see this to copy and paste the Serive Agreement on the NEMSA site. There needs to be an army of people doing this so that Torren and Tim cannot run from the truth. Make them answer the questions that this agreement poses!!!!!

Nice to see the REAL Tim and Torren running from the truth!!!!!!!

NEMSA will probably stall the debate because they are scared, which in turns makes it difficult for us to put trust into a scared labor organization. NEMSA please help us trust you! IAEP has formaly challenged you to a debate as of yesteday! do not back down, or you will lose support, we want to see whoever is going to represent us, is able to demonstrate some of the "negotiating"skills we keep hearing about.

I think you're mistaken, NEMSA accepted the debate challenge. The debate is supposed to be Friday in Alameda County @ the operations center. So now that your idea of NEMSA being a weak, scared labor organization is toast...what else do ya got.

Icemedic,

Have all of the details been worked out this time?  Or is it going to be like the Sacramento debate where NEMSA decided to change the rules at the last minute?

In fact, I'd like to see the rules of the debate posted on this site prior to driving all the way out to ALCO.  Who is to moderate?  How many people from each side can participate?  etc...

Is this a debate or a contest?  AMR North Hollywood employees are still waiting to hear or even see a IAEP rep or members come down and to to us. Soo far not one IAEP person has bother to pay attention to us just like SEIU did.

For your information Torren has agree to debate IAEP in So. Cal as soon a someone call him to set up a date and time.

IAEP has not come to your area yet because you are not voting. As soon as they are finished up north, your area will be next.

Why would you care, unless you're trying to get a job with NEMSA. I think I recall several of your postings from the NEMSA site. You couldn't stop supporting NEMSA, now you've sold yourself out to work for IAEP. You'll never make it as a medic if you have no ethics. See all of us real EMS workers are depended upon by the general public. Along with that comes a strong moral and ethical responsibility. Good luck, try again in the future!

NEMSA came in July and meet with the employees and provided food and answer as many question as possiable. Now when was the last time 250 came by. What month are we in now. That long. Oh yeah for EMS week in may 250 gave it's members icecream cake. They budjeted $25.00 per divison. Lets see 120 members in Glendale at $44.00 a month comes out to more then .05 cent that 250 gave back to it's members. At least AMR had a Bar-B_que and gave out a binder to each employee and a coffee mug.

Nemsa came in July because your area was going to get rid of 250. Call your IAEP pals and see what is going on with an IAEP visit.

Carlos! For crying out loud! IAEP doesn't say there is not vote yet in So Cal! It is a FACT!!!! One that is backed by the vote schedule that NEMSA has passed out! Haven't you recieved that yet?? It's on the NEMSA web site.. and one more thing.. you have stated that you don't want to have anything to do with the union going's on.. Why on earth should IAEP or even NEMSA have to go through you to get anything going??? They go through the shop stewards up north.. and you stepped down from that post.. therefore you have nothing to do with the union as of right now? Correct? Not to mention that IAEP does not as yet have a service agreement with SEIU for our division, as you yourself stated in an email to me.. therefore as of right now they are not a rep for our division.. but they will be in the near future.. and when that time comes.. I'm sure that you will be hearing from them... if you've changed your mind and decided to get involved with the unions again.. but then perhaps if it means "volunteering" more time and not being treated the way you feel you should.. perhaps you'll never have anything to do with any union at all again. Interesting that you catagorize it as "volunteering" by the way, I thought you believed in getting the best for your coworkers no matter what it ment... you put your name on the ballot to be voted in..and then you throw a cow because the union doesn't play they way you want them to. How fickle is that??

Amy:

Once again you seem to be taking shots at me. Fine if that what turns you on go ahead. I don't need to sit here a try to explain myself to you or anyone else. You see I just like you am concern for the fulture of my division in North Hollywood. I been around SEIU and IAEP in the trenches and seen what their all about.

You seem to be upset that I stepped down as a steward I don't know why. As I told you I  that decided to step down to spend time with my family. Why don't you as the shop stewards them self. For someone who was a big NEMSA supporter a few ago you sure change fast. I do recall you trashing SEIU 250 on NEMSA website right?

Look when it all comes down to the vote the members will decide who they really want. All we can do now is just try to informed them of whats each union has to offer. Like I said before I will support who ever wins only because we have to stay united as one or AMR will take advantage of the members.

For your information Paul Parra who was a supporter of SEIU 250 has also agree to support who ever wins in North California. I have agree with Paul and I hope that you will also. You see AMY I have been here for 15 years and plan on staying here until I retire or win the lottorey. (Yeah right).

So to my fellow EMS brothers and sisiters good luck on the vote next week. No matter what happen we in So. California and AMY will support you all. We need to put aside our differents and think toward the fulture. That is really what this is all about. Our fulture.

Here is a chanledge to everyone. In the next fews days leading up to the vote. Type your hart out and speak your mind. But as soon as the last vote has been counted and the winner been decided lets stop typing and start talking to one another on how we can work togeter and big a strong united EMS union. May the best union win and may we all support it as one.

God bless everyone. And to qoute Rodney King "Can't we all just get along?".

ahhh the rhetoric...... so many whines so little time...... CARLOS.. you forget so quickly the things that you hear and read.... One last time and then I'm done going 'rounds with you. I WAS a full blooded NEMSA supporter when it was agains SEIU 250. I have said that over and over and over and over again. But when it was NEMSA agaist IAEP I was on the fence and reevaluated the situation. Whether or not I am an IAEP "supporter" I feel very strongly that people deserve to hear all the facts from both sides before they make a vote. I could really care less who they vote for in the end.. but don't you agree that people should have all the info before they make a decision like this one?? Don't you read my other posts?? Because I answer all of you questions in them, before you ask them I might add. And of course I feel strongly about you leaving your post as the chief shop steward CARLOS,  in my opinion it shows lack of respect for those who depend on you when you walk away because you don't get what you want. The least you could have done was appoint an interm Chief shop steward before you walked away.. but you didn't. And I don't find that very settling. If you wanted to spend more time with your family, what are you doing spending all this time playing union rep?

And "for you information" I could really give two shades who Paul Parra is. I've heard enough about him to make my own opinion. Whomever he votes for.. good for him.

"You see", I care as much as you do about "my division in North Hollywood". I feel that they should have all the information. If I can help facilitate that for them, great! I will. But in the end, I haven't been offered anything and all I gain is a union that the majority has voted in. Of course, like I've said before, and before and before, I will support whomever is voted in in NorCal and in SoCal. When did I ever say I wouldn't?

I'm done going rounds with you now CARLOS, I'm tired of your inability to move forward on these issues. You feel you have to have the last word.. have it, and savor it. I do like you, I do hope for the best for OUR division and your family and OUR coworkers, and all I want is for them is the best union for the job to win the vote... whomever that may be. I have my views, you have yours, we both made them clear.. so MOVING ON!!!!!
