IAEP basically is my union

Hello everyone,

I will first admit, I voted NEMSA and if the vote happened again today would do the same.

That said, I will do my part to support whom ever our union is. But, we have to move forward.....Yes i know NLRB still has yet to truly confirm the election....Blah, Blah Blah.......My point is stop responding to all of the silly and ignorant jibirish people are writing and join the Unity Czar or the Bridges or whatever else you feel you need to do to be and stay positive.

The election is over and with such a close vote there are bound to be angry people on both sides. Some of those will always be unhappy, but for the majority we must continue on out buisness which is Patient care at its finest, while bettering our position in the publics veiw and our contract as it can be improved upon. For those on the fringes you can be loud and angry but none the less you do little but belittle our cause.

                                   Thanks for your time.

Mark,

It is nice to see you again. You do not have to admit anything, you voted on what you felt was best. You are an EMS professional and I know I speak for everyone when I say we respect that. I know this is a difficult time for you and other NEMSA supporters. Your input and expertise is critical to the formation of this local.

I would love to come up your way to meet with folks, daytime with my fellow professionals, evening flyfishing on the Upper Sac or Hat Creek!! You sure have chosen a great place to live.

I have gotten a few good ideas on "Bridges", but i would love to hear what you think. Nothing has really been set in place yet, I am still waiting and hoping for more involvement from NEMSA folks as well. Otherwise, the whole idea simply doesn't work without these folks.

Again, nice to see your posts again.

Thank you,

Rod Billings, Shop Steward, AMR CoCo Operations

Sounds good....I'll bring it up at the union meeting tonight. I am just getting to know some of the IAEP people myself. I can't imagine there being resistance to attempts to unify all of us, even those that have been outspoken critics. If anything, it just shows their willingness to get involved and stand for something they believe in.

I am no longer allowed to post on the NEMSA site, but I do log in a couple of times a day. I have seen posts from Ian Lee that have been just incredible, in a great way! Here is a man who has fought hard for his beliefs, but has been able to remain a gentleman in the process. That is a very difficult tightrope to walk. I also saw a post from Aaron Pelican stating that it has only been a week and that he would need more time to adjust to everything that has happened (Aaron, if I am wrong by this deduction, I want you to please correct me). This is absolutely reasonable. Maybe I am pushing for unity from the NEMSA supporters too early and too hard. I have utopian thoughts racing breakneck speed through my head right now, and one of these recurring thoughts is if we just had the positive ambitions from those that previously supported NEMSA, how far ahead of this game we would be.

Again, there is limited time. In less than a year, we start the long, hard process of re-negotiating this contract. That is a blink of an eye. There needs to be some mechanism in place to speed up our rate of recovery and the damage that has, most definitely, occurred.

To expound on Jonathan Sahagun's proposal a bit more, maybe more get-togethers outside of work is exactly what is needed. Maybe we could incorporate that into "Bridges". Tonight I would like to accomplish a tentative schedule for upcoming "Bridges" meetings and maybe even trips. I travel a lot with my flyfishing, going to Shasta Co. is an every month event for us. I will see him, as well as other union leaders, tonight and when I return, I will gladly update all of you. Of course, my wife and daughter are thrilled to go to yet another union related matter. If I didn't incoporate them as well, I would never see them!<s>

Thank you,

Rod Billings

I could not agree more... It is time to get back business of being shop stewards & members! I know that in the legal realms this will be discussed at length for some time, but in our world, today is what I understand & where we have real impact if we apply ourselves.

I am here to state the obvious fact(s), I was elected by the membership 13 yrs ago to the post of shop steward, in taking the job I have commited my life to guiding  our workplace, no matter what my personal beliefs & emotions. I have a will serve the membership, until which point I am asked by the membership to step down. I would like to see re-election & election of the current and new stewards, just to cleans ourselves of any distrust or disenchantment that may exist in the membership.  Let's go...

Thank-you, John, for the fresh winds of reason. Indeed, let's get up and go.
