Clearly defined punishment for subverting the union.

Time off with compensation for members serving on committees.

Travel authorization and reimbursement for union activity.

Clearly defined regulations to guide how multiple meetings are going to be fairly represented for the entire group.

Standing committees defined.

Who is in charge of a local area?  Will we still use Chief Stewards?

Forfend,

Article 16 of SEIU Local 250's Con and By-Laws cover certain charges, like, but not limited to:

16a(2). Gross disloyalty or conduct unbecoming a member

(7). Advocating or engaging in dual unionism or secession

(9). The wrongful taking or retaining of any money, books,

papers  or any other property belonging to the Local

           union or the International union

I found these to be particularly interesting right about now. There are also no statute of limitations. We do not have to adopt this exact wording, but would something like this do?

As far as reimbursements and travel appropriations, I would prefer to work these out in person than here, as with the rest of the budget. It is just too early to tell what, if any, these will be. Again referring to our current Con and By-Law, specifically Article 6(d), stewards are uncompensated but may be considered for reimbursements for lost time and wages or out of pocket expenses. We've got to first establish our board and then a budget, then go from there. Our elected E-Board will also most likely have the power to determine other times when compensation for its agents are in order. That is reasonable.

As far as chief stewards go, they are indispensable. Well, all stewards, when doing what they should be for their union, are indispensable.

Forfend, this is excellent stuff. Please keep it coming, and please attend your local IAEP meetings as they come around.

Thank you,

Rod Billings, Shop Steward, AMR CoCo Operations

Well at least our money is not going to buy a Hummer for Torren. Everyone of your postings just go to show how deep your ignorance truly goes. You know as well as I do that the decisions on how the money is spent is done locally by members in each of those areas. If you are Riley if you had gotten off your butt and gone to teh local COPE meetings like you were invited to do so your voice could have been heard. But instead you came up with excuses on why you couldn;t and then you want to blame everyone else. All you can do is call names just like Tim. SEIU will and has supported Republicans as well as Democrats. We hold no allegenc e to one party. It goes to candidate who support issues that are important to working people and the members of SEIU. It just ends up going to mainly Democrats because they are the ones who support our issues. We have and will gladly give money to Repulicans when we find ones who support our issues. At the last International Convention we actually gave awards to 2 Republican congressmen because of the support they have shown. If a denocrat shows that they don't support our issues we have and still don't support them. Mike Machado is a great example of a democrat who has lost SEIU support. Cope money has and always will be spent based upon the what the membership says and not some big force in Washington. By the way all labor groups including the IAFF are not supporting Bush in this election becuase of what his decisions regarding labors issues have been. IAEP or NEMSA bot are labor groups and politics play are big part in our jobs. The money that pays our paychecks is almost entirely based upon politics. So no matter how you look at it we are a labor group not the United Way.
