What meeting?

Hi everyone!

I know I haven't written in a long time, but it seemed like nothing but fighting was going on.From what I have read there was a meeting in Sacramento on the 23. None of us here knew about this. I and some of us here would have liked to go. But I see that Aaron and Todd went.I don't know Alis. I wish Todd would have put up a Flyer or something or told people. Maybe someone here ripped it down. Most people here are still very mad about the election. Some of us wondering, is Todd a shopsteward again now that IAEP won? Anyways, morale is pretty low here because we just lost the Sutter contract and we hear that we will also loose the 911 contract too. They say that we may shut down 2 units here, wich is not good because i'm brand new and I have no seniority. Is IAEP going to help us get sutter back? and how will we know about the 911 contract? if some of us newbees get laid off, can we go to another AMR area? We have no shopsteward here in sacramento right now except for Crystal, but she's in yolo county, so it's really hard to get some answers and I don't know her.

See ya out there?...Michelle

I believe Aaron is your chief shop steward. You should contact him about lack of info regarding the meeting, and who the other stewards are in Sacramento. There will be elections for shop stewards in the near future. Todd has not been "re-appointed". He is a concerned member who has been and continues to stay informed and involved.

As far as lay-offs, read you labor contract concerning provisions for that occurance.

When it comes to county 911 contracts, there is a lot members can do to help secure their jobs if there is a change of employer or restructuring of the EMS system. IAEP has experience with this and can lend guidance, as can others in this labor group who have been involved in the political process regarding RFP's.

Perhaps you are not on the mailing list and did not receive the mailing from IAEP regarding the meeting schedule. You can e-mail Marc Pinkas to make sure you are added.

EMTMichelle, Sorry you did not know about the meeting. I know IAEP sent a letter to people’s homes. Nobody from IAEP or 250 has been in contact with me to promote anything. I figured that Todd was their boy. I guess I should have figured he would not tell anyone, he never did when he was a 250 steward. There may have been a flyer posted but with everyone so angry with IAEP being dumped on them, somebody probably tore it down. Since IAEP does not contact me and tell me anything, if I find something out I’ll try and make sure you know. Send me your email address (privately) and I’ll add you to my list. I hope when their reps are up and running we will have better communications. Nobody should have to run after IAEP begging to know when their meetings are. But, then again John Van Eyck never showed his face in our county. So maybe we should not expect too much from IAEP.

I think you would be better off getting on Mr. pinkas' E-mail list. If they are destroying postings up there then I would imagine they would do whatever they can to withhold information. It's great you want to get informed, as well as involved. Get the information and form your own opinions.

The full meeting schedule was posted on this forum twice and it has been posted on the homepage since the day after they set the meetings.  There have been many update inviting people to show up at various individual county meetings.  I know that we invited people to the Santa Cruz meeting 5 or 6 times.  Nobody has to run after the IAEP begging for info.  If the proper procedure is followed for getting info to the stations and disgruntled, non-productive employees destroy that info, whose fault is that?  If people in your county are tearing down the info that is put up then the rest of the employees need to "sound off" on them and let them know that that is unacceptable.  A few people being angry shouldnt preclude the rest of the employees from accessing information.  And Matt is right, you should email Mark, he can get you on the mailing list and if you are feeling left out on the bylaws process he can let you know what ideas are being disccused and let you know how you can have input into the process.
