Inferior Contracts Negotiated By NEMSA

This line was taken from the NEMSA site reguarding their pathetic Oak Valley contract.

Stewards - use of On-Duty stewards ONLY in cases of employee discipline/investigation.

I hope all of you Oak Valley people only get suspended or disciplined when a steward is on duty.... Or better yet, ops can pull another car out of service to help you. Nice way to help the employees and the community NEMSA. I also wonder how they like paying for Torren's bills since he is making a profit off of their dues.

More to come if NEMSA ever gets the full contract for us to see...

By the way.. were is the before and after contracts of Oak Valley?? I know I've asked to see them numberous times.. and I know that others have asked to see it... We just want to see for sure what we are buying into.. see the perks on the lable before taking it home so to speak. I know that the "look what we did" doctrine has been passed around like the bible.. but I'd really like to see exactly what they had vs. what NEMSA negotiated........ Call me a non-believer.. but the proof is usually in the pudding.. and I'd like to taste the pudding....... IAEP and SEIU have made public all of the contracts that they've negotiated, and allowed you to rip them to your hearts content.... where are the Oak Valley contracts?? If you have nothing to hide.. pick up your skirt and show us the goods.

Per the NEMSA website, "YOUR DUES WILL NOT CHANGE UNTIL VOTED ON BY THE MEMBERSHIP."

So, if I'm paying 55$ a month right now and I vote in NEMSA, I still pay 55$ a month? But if I vote in IAEP, my dues go down to 8.20$ a week??? And I don't even have to wait for Torren to decide when my division will have a vote. Oops, my bad, my division will have to wait even longer because with NEMSA each division will not have the opportunity to form its own local...

Don't forget about that initiation fee that Torren needs from you too...

Driver,

Remember you don't have a job in EMS...so you pay nothing. DUH! I got an idea...how about you let the real EMS people handle their own business. Go away, finish school...then you can try to pass probation...that is if they will hire you again.

Bye,

So, where is the before and after contracts for Oak Valley???

I must say that your treatment of someone you don't even know (911driver) is pretty appalling, Ice. Your behavior doesn't do you any credit. You say that "paramedics live by a code of ethics", how ethical is it to dismiss logical questions, verbally ( by the written word here) bash someone because they don't see things the way you do, and totally dismiss the questions and concerns of an "outsider".Here is someone who has experience in the field and is considering coming back and all you can do is attempt to berrate him up one side and down the other because at this very moment he isn't working on an ambulance. Do you always deter potential brothers and sisters because they are concerned about where the profession is going? You forget that he HAS worked in the field, and therefore does have a "clue" about what this is all about. He askes valid questions that I wouldn't even think to ask.. questions that should and need to be answered. Haven't you ever heard of the theory that if a question is asked, there are probably 10 people who have the exact same question but are "afraid" to ask? You shouldn't push people around by using intimidation. That's something that NEMSA supporters should take into consideration.

I agree that the majority seems to be disgruntled employees, and I feel that decisions like this shouldn't be made in anger. Most often, decisions made in anger are the most regretted later, wouldn't you agree? You don't have to agree with the information that IAEP is giving out. That's not why they are doing it. They believe, as I do, that people should at least HAVE the information to make an educated decision, even if they don't like what IAEP has to say, what they can offer, if they thing that it's the devil's spawn, at LEAST have the dignity and consideration to listen! If you walk around with your eye's closed, eventually you are going to run into a wall. I just don't want that wall to be a consequence that everyone has to pay for with their livelyhood and profession.

AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL EMS EMPLOYEES

We here at Oak Valley EMS would like to personally let you know how much we appreciated the support we received from the National Emergency Medical Services Association (NEMSA) during our recent labor contract negotiations.

Our previous contract – with Local 250 as our representative – expired on April 8, 2004. Unfortunately, Local 250 made no efforts to contact us after our contract expired. We subsequently contacted NEMSA, who has since been of great assistance in securing us a fair contract. NEMSA has been available to answer all of our questions either by phone, e-mail, or in person. They have given us solid advice during bargaining sessions and employee meetings so we were able to "map out" the right plans of action.

Even though our bargaining was very tough, NEMSA kept us focused in our fight for a better contract. For example, we were able to get a 38% wage increase over the three-year term of the Agreement. We also increased our paid time off (PTO), improved our uniforms without cost to us, and even added another paid holiday.

NEMSA gave us plenty of options, including reaching out to other organizations to gain support for our contract campaign. We never felt that NEMSA wasn’t going to be there to support us. NEMSA was there when we needed them.

We urge you to join us! With NEMSA, we believe we can garner the recognition and remuneration we as EMS professionals deserve.

Sincerely,

The Oak Valley EMS – NEMSA Shop Stewards:

Mike Skinner, MICP Jeff Smallwood, MICP

Robert Ryland, MICP Joe Hemingway, EMT

Once again.... where is the before and after contracts from Oak Valley?? Show us the money and perhaps we'll buy in too. Why do you continue to avoid posting them?? Because you have something to hide?? If you don't.. then pony up.
