The Truth is, not exactly...I just talked to Debbie Mejia at the AMR Benefits office in Livermore. She told me that the health plan that was agreed upon was AMR's national health plan, ANTHEM BLUE CROSS....not the nemsa-blue shield plan self appointed nemsa president Torren Colcord promised us...don't believe me...call debbie mejia your self at (800) 827-0111. Also, isn't that the same plan that increased our costs by 80% a couple of years ago? That's why we got into the trust in the first place.
By the way...small price to pay for AMR to agree to a contract in one day with such a small unit. What is it...63 employees? Everyone knows that the real cost savings for the new owners will be the 2300 employee unit. I would do the same thing to lull employees into a false sense of security...
The only time I've ever heard of a contract being negotiated in one day was when the fix was in...do you really think we are that dense?
Hey Valleyemt - you were right!! I called Debbie myself. She said the San Mateo medics will come under AMR's national health plan. What happend to the great health plan Torren was bragging about???
Good work, guys. This is exactly what we knew would happen. NEMSA's "plan" with Blue Shield was based upon an inaccurate census of a mostly young, healthy population in their mid-20's. The Agent, Lyle, provided Blue Shield this census, but it doesn't reflect most of us, does it? Blue Shield is obviously doing what they did last time they re-assessed the census - they jacked our rates up 80%. AMR is obviously not going to pay that, so we got shunted to the national plan, which, as we all know, is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than what we have now through Taft-Hartley.
It's too bad the NEMSA board is down because they really need to know that over there.
After a relatively short conversation with Livermore, they have admitted that, yes, they were giving out the wrong information.
The San Mateo plan is administered through ION ( don't quote me on the spelling, could be AON or EON) NOT the National Anthem, honouring the NEMSA blue shield plan as proposed and quoted by NEMSA. It is NOT administered through AMR.
If you care to find out, you can call Debbie Mejia again and she will now tell you that yes, it is Blue Shield and no, it is not National Anthem.
Right.......several people call the AMR benefits department, are informed that the new health plan is AMR's National ANTHEM-BLUE CROSS Plan. Than, all of a sudden, AMR gets a few phone calls and they change their story. Sounds suspicious to me......And by the way, I'm sure we can trust any information coming from.....
